TOWARDS A GENUINE AND RELEVANT AMERICAN ISLAMIC MOVEMENT THAT FULFILLS THE DIVINE MISSION AND AFFECTS POSITIVE CHANGE
This effort stems from a firm conviction that our country and our community are nowhere close to where they should and could be, from serious concerns about the future, and from an unshakable resolve and hope to help close the gap. Such conviction and resolve are reinforced by the great potential and opportunities at hand, and the daunting challenges facing us.
My vision consists of using the prophetic model to build a genuine and relevant American Islamic movement that is rooted and inclusive, fulfills the divine mission, and makes a significant and a sustained impact towards the important and urgently-needed change.
This movement shall strive to commit our fellow Muslims to the divine mission and to America, and commit our fellow citizens to the divine purpose, which calls on members of the human family to strive to be exemplary and engaged citizens, to aspire high, to realize their full potential, and to cooperate for the greater good.
I believe that in essence, Islam calls for a complete devotion to God that translates into a lifelong strive for perfection, compassion towards creation, passion for virtue/ and justice, and rage against all forms of injustice and corruption.
My vision of transforming the American Muslim community into a genuine and relevant American Islamic movement was the product of more than twenty years of extensive reading and traveling, rich hands-on field experience, and heavy interaction with communities across America. Such background gave me a reasonably deep and broad understanding of Islam, history, our reality, and of the rules that govern the rise and fall of nations and communities; and a reasonable insight into the formation and functioning of our community, our country, and this world.
I am inviting you to join this effort by committing to the divine mission and to America and:
* Striving to exemplify and articulate God’s final and universal message, advocate His perfect and timeless Guidance, and meet His expectations.
* Embarking on a lifelong journey of personal development and civic engagement to realize your potential and fulfill the divine mission in your circle/environment.
* Believing that major change is urgently needed, and that such change is possible and is everyone’s responsibility.
* Reaching out to people to inspire, empower, and organize them to affect positive change.
Together we can help get this country to live up to its founding values and aspirations, and to continue to offer citizens and communities the opportunity to live out their dreams and make America a more just, more compassionate, more prosperous, and more secure country that champions the cause of peace and justice in the world.
Lastly, in this competitive world and these trying times, let us pray and hope that God helps and guides us to meet His expectations, and be good embodiments and instruments of His Will, and a blessing to our country and to all humanity.
